This year Sarah Lynne-Landsman, Melvin
Livingston and Alexander Wagenaar conducted a study to evaluate the effect of medical
marijuana laws on the marijuana consumption of adolescents in the state. They
were testing longevity and frequency of the consumption of marijuana after
states passed medical marijuana laws. The results of this study proved to be
shocking to me. Overall there seemed to be no change in usage of marijuana
after medical marijuana laws. However there were 2 cases that differed from the
norm. Through the years of 2003-2009 the state of Montana showed a decrease in
the longevity of marijuana smoking as well as a decrease in daily consumption,
Delaware showed less of a decrease in longevity but an increase in the daily
use. All in all these two deviations were disregarded as they did not represent
the actual facts.
