Alcohol and Marijuana- Social Problem Perspective

In our society of constant stress and social pressure to fit in and succeed people often find ways to cope with these stressors without actually eliminating the roots of that particular problem. An article compiled Don A. Rockwell M.D. presents his social problems perspective which states that drug and alcohol often fail to solve the original problem (Rockwell, 1973). Social problems are always present and they cannot be solved by simply consuming drugs this is only a temporary alternative to the actual reality we are living in. the deviant behaviour that excludes people from social groups can be very stressful for a person but these stressors must be dealt with on a social and personal level, not with outside factors like drugs and alcohol.
