Study
of Deviance Proneness in Marijuana Use
In a study done by Kaplan et AL. (1986) discusses
the use of marijuana in adolescents and why some people become regular users of
marijuana. They gave questionnaires to seventh graders and young adults age
23-25 (Howard B. Kaplan, 1986). The seventh graders
were measure on the levels that concern peer acceptance and measures how marijuana
use escalates depending on psychological and psychosocial events that take
place in their lives such as peer exclusion. They concluded that regular use
will take place if it is first tried early in the teen years, they also conclude
that if marijuana if first tried in late years it will be less likely to
continue. This shows that some people will resort to the use of marijuana when
social problems take place or when someone is trying to fit in and is rebuffed.
